Just had to share

I don't know if you pay attention to the links in my sidebar or not (it's fine if you don't...I just keep them there for my own laziness' sake), but there is one new extraordinary one I invite you to check out.

Enjoying the Small Things.

It's simply beautiful, and inspiring, and helps me refine my perspective...check it out if you've got a minute or ten.

Girls vs. Boys

This is not intended to be an exhaustive treatise on the differences, real or perceived, between girls and boys. A difference was simply highlighted in a very real way for me today!

I was tussling with Anna today on her bedroom floor...mostly tickling her to hear her adorable giggle! At one point I rolled onto my stomach and pretended to snore.

Now tell me...if you were playing with a boy, and you rolled over and pretended to go to sleep, what would he do? I know what mine would do-they would jump on my back!

My darling daughter's response?
She brought me her baby doll to sleep with and made me a pretend cup of coffee...that's my girl!

Who needs a saddle?

Certainly not Jacob's "little guys." Have rubberbands? Strap 'em on, and he's ready to ride, with all necessary equipment on hand!
(Jacob loves his "little guys" and all the "little guy stuff." Playmobil sets abound here...and they are about the only thing he plays with on a daily basis-and if he's playing with something else, the little guys are generally incorporated somehow)!

Things I've heard

Today at dinner, Anna requested her knife to "cut" her hot dog.

Jacob willingly traipsed himself to the silverware drawer, and said "I'll get it for you, Anna, if it's available. If not, it might be in the dishwasher."

And after dinner, Mark was washing Anna's face with a new multi-colored washcloth.
"Oh man, that's p'etty!"

Maybe we don't get out enough, but they certainly crack us up.

4 H

We had a fantastic 4H meeting last week! Our group leader thought it would be a good idea to have a potluck in addition to any presentations that the kids wanted to make.
So, we took the potluck one step further, and made sure that our menu included some of the food that our 4H members produce!

Here, Andrew and some friends help prepare: rabbit stew! Rabbits compliments of Jordan, who has raised them for show and is now transitioning into meat rabbits. If you've never tried rabbit before, you don't know what you're missing-it's delightful!

We had the largest turnout ever...and everyone also enjoyed an egg-salad dip from chickens that Katelyn raises, and for dessert we brought goat-milk pudding, which everyone raved about!

Andrew brought all three of the goat kids to share with the group, and he decided he really wanted to have his display board ready for the meeting, too, despite my encouragement that he really could wait until Fair time to get the poster together! It was a scramble, and it wasn't quite done, but he had a very thorough presentation ready for the meeting. (And Anna was a very willing and able helper, holding the leash for one of the kids)!

Please pray for Andrew tomorrow morning, as he will be participating in a Presentation Day over in Sol. He's never before done public speaking in front of strangers...and he is the only one going from our club. So all the judges and other participants will be from the other side of the Peninsula. Because he was so eager to do his display board for our club meeting, he was actually ready to do something like this, even though we found out about it kind of last minute...thank you, Lord!

The hardest part for me is that I won't be able to be there for it (I have ladies prayer breakfast Sat. a.m., and then our whole family is heading over tomorrow afternoon for our Valentine's Day party...so Andrew will stay with family after our chiropractor appts. today, and my mom will take him to Presentation Day). But, as Mark reminded me, it will probably be an even better experience for him if neither of us is there...it will be more of a stretch for him. And as Andrew put it, "As long as there's some adult there with me, I'm fine with it."

From Anna (sort of)

Can you believe my mom? I'm almost embarrassed!

I mean, look at this. She's got tons of adorable pictures like this of me on her computer. Hundreds of them, even.

And pictures of my brothers, too. Silly ones.

But does she blog them? No. Instead she cooks meals for us, cleans the house, does our laundry, teaches school, milks the goat, does the animal chores, and helps daddy with church stuff. I think she should blog instead of sleep. What do you think? Now she wants to wait to blog until she transfers all of her pictures to her new computer, but I think if she does that, she'll never get back to blogging. She's six months behind as it is. I'll talk to her about it for you. After I get up from my nap. Thanks for stopping by...and keep checking back. I'll help her get her act together. Really.
love,
Anna
