We've been studying the arctic for several weeks now, and I finally got around to wrapping up the unit! We made "polar bear pops" with some molds that I have, and while we worked they told me all about the arctic!
Here, Andrew is anxiously waiting to try his polar bear pop while sharing his writing piece. We went through the writing process, from brainstorming a list of topics to making a cluster web of details about his chosen subject, and then writing a sentence, revising for details and editing. All that for one sentence, but it's a good sentence, and hey-it's only kindergarten! He wrote (and then illustrated) "Polar bears eat ringed seals."
Anna thoroughly enjoyed the polar bear pops as well...
...and this was her reaction when it was all gone!
