My dad gave all of us a demonstration on how to work with the gold pans, and then we got into action! Some went down in "the hole" to sift larger rocks out of the dirt and gravel, (to start with it was Mark, Jacob, Adam, and my brother-in-law Jerry, but almost all the boys and men took turns at it), and the rest started panning! As my dad says, panning for gold is just a good excuse to play in the dirt and mud...the kids were happy as clams!
