We had an absolutely fabulous team from Colorado Springs come to do our VBS this year. There were 20 of them, about 10 adults and 10 teenagers. I was a bit skeptical about all the teenagers, but they were the best thing ever to hit our community. They were all responsive, mature, helpful, and above all...loving! They just loved on all the kids, tangibly sharing the love of Christ. Most of them were able to stick with the same child through the whole week, helping them with crafts, being their partner for games, sitting with them during the story, etc. We had as many as 22 kids attending, and 4 of them accepted Christ as their Savior! This team did so much for our church, and were such a huge blessing. There were many tears when it was time to say good-bye!
Andrew just soaked it all up this year, learning the hand motions with the songs, getting involved in all the games, volunteering to answer questions and help act out Bible stories. Everyday on the way home I would ask him what the best part of his day at VBS had been. "Everything, mom...just everything."
Even he got attached to some of the teens, which is very unlike him! And he cried bitterly when we said good-bye and headed home after the closing program, through his sobs asking when we would see the Colorado team again.

Jacob had some rough days with VBS, I think due mostly to his tiredness, as I had to wake him by 7:30 every day to get to MP on time. He was also really complaining about his ears, and was in general whiney and clingy to me. But God sent just the right person on the team specifically for Jacob! Deanna was very sweet, gentle, and quiet...tending to be more shy as Jacob is in new situations. She was just wonderful with him, and was such a trooper, as most days he wasn't easy to deal with! Anna was Miss Popular with the team! She did great all week, just hanging out for the first hour, then I would put her in the nursery in her carseat for a nap for the rest of the time! The last day of VBS was her birthday, and they even sang to her and had a present for her!
All in all it was a fantastic week, and if ever this team wants to come back, we would take them in a heartbeat!
