Firefighter extraordinaire

Jacob is very rarely seen just being Jacob. The majority of his days are spent being a firefighter, reading firefighter books, teaching fire safety to his imaginary friend (simply named "boy"), and doing his fire truck puzzle (a very cool gift from Aunt Becca that makes a fire engine sound when you complete the puzzle)!
This first picture is of his initial fireman outfit, though it has since become more sophisticated. The yellow backpack is his breathing tank and the white shelf is his mask. Aunt Kimmie gave him a firefighter backpack/hose from DT that is pretty much a permanent fixture on his back, along with a small bug net for a mask, and of course the hat he still has from our field trip. If I let him drag more stuff out, he also puts on his boots, coat, and mittens (so that he doesn't get burned, you know). I guess I really should take a picture to post of the current get-up!
The other day, he wanted me to play with him, and said "Mommy, you be the little childrens, and I'll be the firefighter and show you my fire stuff." He and Andrew then worked together to explain each piece of gear to me as he put it on, just like two firemen did on our field trip. :)

The second picture is a side note to the firefighter...during the Christmas season, much to our dismay, he had frequent hiatus' from firefighting to be Santa. In his mind, the Eeyore costume they keep for dress-up equaled a good Santa outfit, and the goggles were the beard. Hmm!
